If you haven’t noticed yet, Disney has found a new way to pile cash onto their already enormously lucrative empire: adapting the beloved films from their Golden Age of Animation into live action movies. With the live action Cinderella making off extremely well, Disney is now ready to take on the jewel of their animated filmography – Beauty and the Beast.
Casting announcements have been thrown out constantly over the past weeks that include Harry Potter‘s Emma Watson as Belle, Oscar-winner Kevin Kline as Belle’s father Maurice, the brilliant Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, the legendary Sir Ian McKellan as Cogsworth, Fast and Furious 6‘s Luke Evans as the brute Gaston, Dan Stevens of BBC’s “Downton Abbey” as the Beast, and Frozen’s Josh Gad as the squishy minion Le Fou.
To commemorate their first table reading before principal photography begins in London, Josh Gad posted a picture of himself and his cast mates on Instagram looking incredibly excited to get started on this film and Sir Ian posted his first impressions of the project on Twitter.
Beauty And The Beast is slated to arrive in theaters in early 2017.
