Chris Evans And Jeremy Renner Apologized After Making Derogatory Comments To Black Widow’s Character
Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans made a joke about a character in Avengers: Age of Ultron and the two actors have since found out that people don’t have a whole lot of patience with derogatory comments, even if it is about a fictional character. During an interview with the entertainment website Digital Spy, the two actors were asked about Black Widow. Renner immediately replied that she was “a slut” and Evans burst into laughter, adding that he was about to say the same thing. Since those comments went viral, there were more then a few people who felt as though they were inappropriate, even in jest.
According to USA Today, the backlash was enough that the actors issued a formal apology, and said they understood why people were upset. “Yesterday we were asked about the rumors that Black Widow wanted to be in a relationship with both Hawkeye and Captain America. We answered in a juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologize.” Chris Evans’ said through his representative. Jeremy Renner sent a similar apology with the addendum that he didn’t want to offend anyone.
