Kelly Osbourne has officially announced her departure from E!’s Fashion Police. The network released a statement on Friday saying that Kelly Osbourne has decided to leave the show in order to pursue other career opportunities. Osbourne has been a member of Fashion Police for the past five years.
Osbourne’s Fashion Police exit should be no surprise. Kelly tweeted that she would possibly be leaving the show if co-host, Giuliana Rancic, didn’t issue an apology regarding the controversial statements she made about Disney star, Zendaya. Rancic commented that the dreadlocks that Zendaya chose to wear on the Oscars’ red carpet made her look as though she could possibly smell like ‘patchouli oil and weed’.
Social media reacted very strongly to the words Giuliana Rancic chose to use about Zendaya, and she immediately became a trending topic on both Facebook and Twitter. Rancic eventually went on air to issue an apology to Zendaya and anyone else she might have offended with her comments.
E! said that Fashion Police is scheduled to return on Friday, March 30th at 9:00 p.m. As of now, no decision has been made regarding Kelly Osbourne’s future replacement. Osbourne has yet to comment on her departure or if the comments Rancic made on air are the reason she decided to leave the show.
