Kermit Faces Competition From Real-Life Double

People around the world have been getting very excited over a newly discovered frog species. The species, which was found in Costa Rica, has found internet fame thanks to its startling resemblance to a certain Muppet.

That’s right. The new species of frog, from the Talamanca mountain region of Costa Rica, is a spitting image of Kermit the Frog. As you can see from the image below, the animal shares the same green color, bulging eyes and head shape of its more famous counterpart.

However, its name does not roll off the tongue quite like the movie and television star as it is called Hyalinobatrachium dianae. The Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center discovered the new glass frog and it is the first new example of its type that has been found since 1973. Glass frogs are named for their translucent bodies that allow you to look through their skin and see their insides. They have become well known because of this, as the ability to see their internal organs is fascinating.
